Fabulous Party Recipes

Fabulous Party Punch

Fabulous Party Punch has been served at nearly every Fabulous Party we've thrown. The recipe isn't very strict. For each bowl of punch you'll need:
  • About 2 2-liter bottles of soda-pop (lemon-lime works with everything but strawberry and pineapple are fun too)
  • Roughly 1 can of frozen juice concentrate (Hawaii's own is inexpensive and fruitastic)
  • Some ice
  • More or less than 4-5 big scoops of rainbow sherbet, floating on top
The sherbet will make a fluffy rainbow foam on top of the punch. It looks kind of gross but it's a big hit. For each Fabulous Party, we will likely use six bottles of soda, three cans of concentrate, a bag of ice and a liter of sherbet. The most expensive thing is the sherbet, and this will serve a lot of people!

Cat in Tomato Sauce

This was served at the DDP although we substituted rabbit for cat. Emily thinks it looked and tasted like vomit, but Tyler thought it pleasant. It comes from The Decadent Cookbook, by Medlar Lucan and Durian Gray.

Make a marinade from a cup of vinegar, some sprigs of thyme and two cloves of garlic, finely chopped.

Skin the cat. (Remember, there are more ways than one!) Then gut and wash it well. Cut it into pieces and put them into the marinade in a pot. Leave it overnight.

The following day, add 2 pounds of chopped tomatoes, a tablespoon of ground red pepper, two apples split in half, half a chopped onion and a cup of oil. Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and simmer until the meat is tender. Strain the liquid and then return to the pot. Bring it to the boil for a short while, then serve.

"Sparkling" Cider

  • 1 Gallon Apple Cider
  • Crock Pot
  • A pre-school that keeps glitter in a container marked "Cinammon" in their spice rack
  • Naive guests
Put cider in crock pot. Attempt to add cinnamon, discover - when it's in - that actually it's glitter. Shriek in dismay, to taste. Wonder out loud if you should dump it. Be reassured that it's fine, the guests will never know. Serve.

Le Buerre De Fines Herbs

Leave large container Italian Seasoning at your traditional venue. Come back three years later. Discover it, laugh until you cry. Mix remain Italian Seasoning with a Giant Tub of Margarine. Scoop into butter dishes, shaping as necessary. Serve.

Caramel Apple Punch

  • 1 fifth "Apple Pucker" Liqueur
  • 2 fifths Butterscotch Schnapps
  • 1 Gallon Apple Cider
Mix all together. Serve. It's helpful to make a couple of batches and keep them ready in the wings, otherwise - if you try to top this up - you'll get the proportions wrong, and it'll taste funny.

La Vagin avec Les Dents (Vagina Dentata)

  • Angelfood cake Ring
  • Two Tubs or four cans whipped cream
  • 1 Container fresh Strawberries
  • granulated sugar
  • 1 package whole, roasted, unsalted almonds
Slice half of your strawberries. Sprinkle with sugar. Let sit, refrigerated, overnight.

Take an ordinary, everyday Angelfood Cake Ring. Slather it liberally in whipped cream, and fill center with sliced strawberries and more whipped cream. Stick almonds -point up - all the way around the center of the ring. These will be your teeth. Take your largest remaining strawberry, and stick it on the top of the cake ring. Garnish around the base with your remaining strawberries, and there you are!

Viande De Mystere

This is French for "Mystery Meat," and is a handy thing to print on Menu Cards when you're not entirely certain yet what your main course will be.

1 Turkey OR 1 Ham OR 1 Prime Rib of Beef OR Several Chickens OR 1 Whole Salmon OR whatever

Cook whatever you decide on in the traditional manner. Carve. Serve. WOW!

Miss Poppy's Pan-Fried Asparagus:

Ingredients: Asparagus Spears, PAM non-stick Cooking Spray (or butter), Chilli Powder, Curry Powder, Garlic Salt, Pepper, and the Like:

Spray pan with PAM (or, alternatively, melt 1/4 cup butter in pan). Place Asparagus spears in pan, liberally sprinkling with spices of choice. Fry, turning spears as necessary, and replenishing frying agent and spices as necessary. Eat with fingers, because that's the point.

Pirate Party Pleasers:

Stolen and Adapted from the Criminal Dawn.

Obtain large amounts of crostini, or tasty nibbly crackers. There are four varieties, which in their version are wafer-thin slices of flavour stacked one on the other, or in our version are made into a spread. Salmon, Capers, and Cream Cheese; Carmelized Onions and Cream Cheese (which would not take mushrooms amiss, either, I'm sure); Avacado and Bacon; Roast Beef and Suitable Cheese.
