Resources for Guests

The FPA isn't associated with any of the web sites linked below.

Keep in mind that the FPA has not purchased from or used all of the vendors, tutorials or patterns linked. They're here for inspiration; please don't be sad at us if you have trouble with any of these websites.

For La Fête Sanguinaire, guests are encouraged to come dressed as Vampires, Werewolves, or Other Creatures of the Night. You may come dressed in the garb of the country and time of your rebirth, so historical costumes are wholly appropriate; or you may come dressed as a modern or futuristic interpretation of your character. Plain, non-undead modern evening dress is appropriate too but much less fun.

Here is a web site that sells glitter, for all of your sparkly-Twilight-vampire needs. We haven't purchased from them, but they do seem to have lots of variety.

Vampfangs.com sells all sorts of amazing fangs as well as makeup, special effects contact lenses and hair extensions. If you sign up for their mailing list they do periodically have promotions. Emily bought a couple pair of fangs from them and was quite impressed with the delivery time with their free shipping. They also tossed a free gift into the package, but that might not always happen.

As for the parts of you that will be covered in fabric, my old standby Simplicity has some appropriate patterns. Really any formal gown or suit could be made up in red velvet, but here is a specifically gothy dress pattern that appears to be new. cloaks like these are also appropriate. We haven't used these specific patterns before, but Emily finds Simplicity patterns to be generally easy to follow.

For historical creatures, Emily thinks that The Great Pattern Review is a great resource for (not historically accurate, of course) pattern reviews. That link goes to the Simplicity page which she chose just for 9832 (that link just goes to the picture; click the first one and control-F for the review.) It's an Elizabethan-inspired gown done in black vinyl and red lace.

If you don't want to make a costume, that's okay too even though the Halloween stores are closed now. Display & Costume is a store in Seattle with a nice horror and gothic selection. Plus they linked to us, which was nice.

This last bit is a little bit shameful, really, but Emily does admire some pewter Alchemy Gothic Jewellery. It may be cheesy, but she fell in love with her little "Nosferatu's Rest" pendant when she saw it at... Hot Topic. She was there with her boyfriend to get him a Dimmu Borgir tee shirt, okay? Sheesh.

And finally, Here is a site that sells horns, fangs, and elf ears.

Good luck! Be creative!
